11.17 High School Football Picks

We have three state title games featuring three undefeated teams. All three would be considered the favorites. I predict one will win in a blowout, one in a squeaker, and one will be upset. The only trick is picking which is which. I think Fremont has the best chance, against the Lone Peak team they ousted from the playoffs last year. But you never know…

11.9 Utah High School Football Picks
Jeremy Brunner - November 9th, 2011
Last week: 10-6(63%)
Season total: 392-118(77%)
What a week for high school football. My picks were not so great, but I’m okay with that. The defending champs went down in 2A, 3A, 4A and 5A, which is good news for someone who hates dynasties like me.

11.4 High School Football Picks
Jeremy Brunner - November 3rd, 2011
Last week: 29-4(88%)
Season total: 382-112(77%)
The first week of the playoffs are in the book and, wow. Syracuse pulled off the upset of the still-young decade. Other winners that pulled upsets(at least according to my picks) were Northridge, Westlake and Cedar. Now any of them could win again, but Cedar is suddenly a favorite in 3A, despite their 5-5 record.

10.27 High School Predictions
Jeremy Brunner - October 28th, 2011
Last week: 26-12(68%)
Season total: 353-108(77%)
The regular season is over, but since I’m on such a roll, I will keep picking through the playoffs. There are less even matchups than usual in the first round of the postseason.

10.24 Utah High School Football Rankings
Jeremy Brunner - October 25th, 2011
Here they are, my final rankings of the season. I will publish an updated list after the playoffs are finished. I'm stoked for the postseason, just hoping and praying for an Alta/Lone Peak finale. What a game that would be. I covered Logan at East last week, and I've got to say I didn't love the Leopards strategy. In a battle of 9-and-0 teams, East decided to bench some of their starters. Then after two subpar possessions, the Leopards threw their two stars back on the field. I just wanted to see the best two teams in 4A, but instead saw the Grizzlies put on a clinic. In 3A I'm just hoping the train of heartbreak will end for Hurricane. The Tigers are the clear-cut best team in the classification, but they have to fight off their demons of Novembers past.
Here are some teams on the move:
Mountain Crest +18
North Sanpete +12
Hunter +8
Layton Christian +7
Cedar +7
Timpanogos +7
Park City +6
Springville +6
